There is great irony in the fact that in the age of the influencer and in a global climate of outrage at abuse the only influencer we haven’t listened to, or taken seriously, is the most abused and violated identity of all. The only influencer who actually matters. God. Who better to know what life needs, than God. Or life itself, if you prefer.
Our world can be brutal to children. That sentence alone should be enough to make us have a long hard look at how we raise them and how we educate them. Not just in Australia. But everywhere. But despite the psychological carnage, school websites and the marketing information they release tells a different story to our children. Schools speak with flashy taglines. Children speak with anxiety, self-harm and suicide attempts. And we all know only one of the two voices I referred to here is of any substance.
What the world has done to our children is one of its greatest crimes. And education, instead of defending them is playing its role. Religions weaken and limit God's right to authority and sovereignty over his own life. They have greedily divided God among themselves, guaranteeing he would be kept at arms length from the abusive world we have created. Conditional expression is the way of life that honours God. It honours and acknowledges all God's direct messengers, but honours Jesus as the true living Word of God. the embodiment of what honouring God should look and feel like.
